AMD EPYC 7742

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a leading global semiconductor company known for designing and developing high-performance computing and visualization products.

Approximate Score: 85,500.

Description: This benchmark measures the overall processing capability. A score of 85,500 indicates extreme multi-core performance, making it capable of handling massive parallel workloads, virtualization, and complex simulation tasks.

Cores: 64 physical cores. These handle parallel tasks simultaneously.

Threads: 128 threads utilizing AMD's Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) technology, doubling the task-handling capacity for high efficiency.

None. This processor lacks an onboard GPU. A dedicated graphics controller on the motherboard (IPMI) or a discrete GPU is required for video output and management.

Data Center Server. This processor is part of the 2nd Gen EPYC series ("Rome"), designed specifically for high-density server racks and hyperscale cloud infrastructure.

225 Watts. This CPU is designed to balance high performance with energy efficiency, requiring robust server-grade cooling systems (air or liquid) to manage heat in rack environments.

2.25 GHz is the guaranteed operating frequency for all cores.

Up to 3.4 GHz for tasks requiring faster speed when thermal headroom allows.

NO

Socket SP3: A large land grid array socket designed specifically for AMD's 1st and 2nd Gen EPYC processors.

L3 Cache: 256MB. A large shared cache reduces latency by keeping frequently used data close to the cores, enhancing speed in data-intensive applications like databases.

DDR4 Memory: Supports up to DDR4-3200 with an 8-channel memory interface, providing massive data bandwidth crucial for feeding the 64 cores. ECC (Error Correcting Code) RAM is supported and recommended for stability.
